[Wireless] Changing routers

I'm thinking about finally dumping my old BEFW11S4 router for a WRT54G... I have 2 questions...

1.) What's involved in changing routers?... Do I just plug the new one in or do I have to remove old drivers and install new software?

2.) Why isn't this router listed on the BestBuy website?... I see it on the Staples website for $60...

Depending on what you have for an ISP, different settings may apply. If you have Comcast, for example, you can just take out the old router, put the new on in its place. Power cycle the modem and you should be good to go.

I would imagine the wrt54g is in a store. All I see on there site is the WRT54G2. Looks like they are making a switch?

They are switching - our local BB only has the WRT54G2 in the store.

$40.00 at Newegg, mixed reviews. The wrt54gl gets much better reviews. I run it with no issues. Bought two more for a client yesterday.

The WRT54G has reached its end of life so you wont see it anymore. You can still find some on ebay. As stated the WRT54GL is still available and is a better router in the event you want to load third party firmware in the future. If not interested in third party firmware then buy the new WRT54G2.
When you change it out just make sure you unplug your modem, router and pc. Connect them and power them up one at time in the same order modem first, then router, and finally your pc. You still will have to setup security once booted.
