@comcast.net
| I would prefer just to be Bartleby. But it says I can't (Bartleby is taken or unavailable)...and I'm not going to create even a free account if I can't be, "me". So "Bartleby Here" it is.
We now return you to the general consternation, wailing and gnashing of teeth. Some justified, and some clearly not. |

CCCarole,
By the way, mady, I couldn't use at least your first link, even after I completed the signin page. Got a "can't find that message" message. But at least ended up being able to access the help forum. Hmmm...I just tried and got the post. At least you know which thread it's from.

| reply to madylarian said by blog.wired article :Comcast boasts 14 million subscribers nationwide, and handling the massive traffic aimed at Comcast.net was no easy task. The hackers stayed up most of the night opening new webhosting accounts, and constantly moving the DNS to follow them. In all, they claim, they burned through 50 different hosts to keep their defacement alive. "You know how hard it is to find hosting handling that kind of traffic?" says EBK "The first one went in two minutes." •Wouldn't that 'web hosting' sort of thingy cost some serious "El Moolah"? •Mebbe burning through 50 of them in a couple hours would attract some attention, create a e-trail. |

| reply to Bartleby Here Bartleby, Mady, EG- I'm late getting here this morning- posted my problems with webmail & OE on THF, only to find your answers here just now. I think going back and forth from here to there last night has fried my brain. Thank you as always... |

| CCCarole...no worries. Hope you manage to get them sorted (even though webmail sure isn't your primary means of access). Site may even be getting more cooperative, as time passes, and the junk behind the scenes dies off. I'm still planning on a weekend "away"...from Comcast Help forum anyway. Maybe even a bit longer. I can find other ways to mildly aggravate myself.
(And mady, forgot to mention the links here did go to that thread, when I tried them again while already logged in to the forum. Opened fine as another tab. In between the random "boots" back to the home page, of course.)
Apologies to the regular BBR member named "Bartleby" (excellent choice of ID, by the way). I would prefer not to borrow it any longer, even with the slight variation that allowed me to. |

| Hey my friend, you deserve a break after all of the helping you have done! Got the mailbox Mgr. straightened out. Still need to fix OE so it doesn't ask for Idenity sign in, but no worries, I'll get it fixed too. No, do not use webmail as primary means of access. Have a nice break, will catch ya here, there, or one of the 'others'. |

| reply to CCCarole Thanks for the "quick loan" again, Bartleby.
CCCarole...In case you haven't gotten the OE identity fixed, just go to File>Identities>Manage Identities, in OE. You'll see yours, and a drop down list below that says which one to use at startup. Not sure how it got deselected, but that's where you fix it. (And I'll bet you've figured that out, or got the answer in CHF, by now.)
I'm still on CHF "vacation". And a nice one, so far.
Thanks for the kind words re: my efforts to wade in when I knew many regulars might not be able to. Not sure I made much difference, but I tried. |

1 edit | Hi gang. I have been getting a lot of DNS errors. I can't reach our alternate Comcast invisionfree forums now. I wonder if a lot of ISP's are clearing their DNS cache. These guys really did a number on the Internet. My worry is that if one can do it, more can and really cause some havoc.
Edit: It appears that my connection problems are Cox related. |

| reply to bpvwebdesigns Probably using the national DNS's is a better choice than one tied to a specific market.
