To the best of my knowledge they are not forcing 6000 and plain 7000 users to upgrade YET. 4000 users are pretty much abandoned at this time. I don't think they will recommission a 6000 anymore but have not heard that about plain 7000s. If I was getting that kind of speed and happy I would sit tight and wait and see. They would really like to have everyone on a 7000S or 9000 but, I think it is going to be a while before that happens. -- 9000 spaceway III, 7000S SatMex 5 1270, Dlink wirless |

| reply to jefflaur 342 kb/s would seem to me to be a bogus upload speed for either a 4000 or 6000 modem. To get that with a 7000 series, you'd have to be paying business plan rates. You might want to get a second opinion on that throughput - especially the TX
But the question still waiting for an answer is - what system DO you currently have?

| reply to jefflaur As the Subject line say..yes it is the 7000 modem (not the (S) and we aron the Small Business INternet plan (typically 1200 down 512 up)
I have had some weeks and months where the speed was horrid..Like 34kbps down and 9kbps up..when I started with this system it was one of the first "Hot Boy" 2 watt systems, and it screamed..then as more users got on the same bird..things slowed down. Recently though these speeds have been quite consistant. I use an FTP program for uploading audio files to the web, and it shows me any whwere from 275-410 upload speed pretty regularly. It's expensive, but cheaper than a T1 out here in the mountains (T1 was 1300/mo!!) |

| Sorry I mis-typed the above and entered the text from a laptop with Verizon Wirless. We are supposed to get 1500 download and 300 upload. It is the Small Ofcice Plan..Midday numbers are more like 900 down and 200 up, but we can live with that just fine |

| reply to jefflaur In that case, I see no reason whatsoever to be swayed by any upgrade offers. The HN7000S is really just a DW7000 with the adaptive inroute capability turned on. The HN9000S isn't reported to deliver any better performance than the HN7000S either. Plus you'd have to invest in an entirely new set of outdoor equipment as well. -- HN7000S/74cm/1w/ProPlus - G16/1250H/Germantown - NAT 66.82.187.152/Gateway 66.82.25.10/DNS 66.82.4.12 and 66.82.4.8 - Firefox 3 - AVG+Firewall v7.5 |
