This is the only place i know of:

Both Micro-Byte stores in Montreal
and Quebec city didn't happen to
have it when i visited them and they
won't even order one for me... Any
other suggestions? |

clubs: | Efficient/Siemens products aren't sold in retail, only to ISP's. I'm not sure if Gentek will sell them to an individual, you may have to be an ISP.
Only other choice is auction sites, for sale forums.

Here's the one i can get, what i'm most concerned about
is compatibility with 'DMT v9.01' and other limitations...
I already tried Thomson's SpeedTouch 546v6 ad nauseam, i
much prefer my GNet BB0060B and i believe i'll like my brand
new GNet GBB2060-Xi as well but this is the one i'm nost
curious to evaluate next. |

Just for you, Nanook:
Can't connect to modem to run DMT (on a 4200), HiVolt, 2007-Aug-12
Jeffrey Freedman from GenTek wrote me a note saying it's
79 $, TPS adds 4.45 $ to the cost and shipping brings the
grand total to 93.45 $. Does 'DMT v9.01' support the later
D242 FirmWare, that's the question! ...and i got one more...
Can any one of these upgrades fit on D242 SS4200 HardWare:

| Bicephale, the Update_D240_A8M_106-65_1210_v1r.exe works with DMT. I havent tried the others. What's critical for DMT 9.01 to work with any speedstream, is that it has the telnet port open, and allows the admin user/pass to be used as a telnet login...
Bell crippled firmwares have telnet port 23 locked.

Mister Freedman at GenTek told me that the "GEN"
string in "060-D242-GEN" is standing for "Generic".
I wouldn't mind a bit should i simply need to enable
the TelNet port myself. Perhaps some SpeedStream
4200 (D242) owner will show up and fill the gaps...
In the meantime, i wish to thank you for the input!

I resquested advice from Doctor Olds and he's not
optimistic: he tried many versions of HardWare/
FirmWare and it's a hit or miss thing, apparently.
The Aussie Siemens site doesn't have any FirmWare
for the D242 type so i guess i should wait to see
a 'DMT' capture with the right device information
before i can conclude it's safe to buy this one.
So, a more accurate statement to make about 'DMT'
versus the SpeedStream 4200 would be to say that
sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't...
It doesn't make it simpler to need both the spectral
response and CRC Error curves in the 'DMT' captures!
