 | [policy and politics] Verizon Premium Technical Support As many customers are unaware, the face of Verizon Premium Technical Support is about to change. At present, customers are paying either $9.99 or $14.99 per month, depending on when you signed up for premium technical services.
The service has been offered through Canada, yet from June 1st, it will be split between that center and firedog. All connectivity troubleshooting will be done with the free technical support department and no longer Premium Technical Support. So that means some of you will have to talk to off shored agents who don't know what they are doing and waste a few hours of your time. As off July 1st, Premium technical support will no longer be done out of Canada at all, and will all be done by Firedog. That is when the connectivity for DSL troubleshooting will be done by the free dept. So good luck getting fast results out of the Indian agents!!
This is further highlights how Verizon LOVES to annoy their customers, I just thought I would give you a heads up before the changes come into effect and you are taken by surprise!! |

flo1356 join:2004-05-01 Fair Lawn, NJ | Hi Maybe that's why there seems to be very few responses in the direct forum since the 15th?? There have been hardly any responses on last Friday or today in fact..... |

 | The direct forum is not handled by PTS but a separate department. As to why they aren't responding, I'm not sure. |
|
 | Now speaking on that topic, when I tried to call up to change my connection to Interleave to Fastpath, I had to go through the whole story of why I would like to have it changed then the woman who said she's "a high-end gamer(who sounds like she was 45-50 years old LOL)" can connect me to Premium support at the cost of $29.99 for a one-time use. I was like "That's too much than I can afford." After reading the stories about Fastpath is not recommended by Verizon, I decided to stay with Interleave because of the cost is just too much. |

2 edits | I've been running FastPath here with no problem, and I'm slightly beyond 2 miles from the RT. You only need to worry about it IF your line is having disconnect issues when you have it or you are far away from the CO/RT. If you want FastPath, post up your line stats (or PM them to me) if you haven't already, then if they look good, go to the Verizon Direct forum here and request it with your line stats if you don't have it. Once they receive your request, you should be switched on within a day. The line may disconnect at first, that is normal, but then it should come back up and you should have it then.
Otherwise, there's really no need for the Premium Tech Support. All I see it as is another fee tacked on for slightly better service, while here on forums you can get some crazy service for free. The Verizon Direct forum IS alive again, lots of replies today when I check it, so they seemed to have appeared again. |

Current prices for PTS are a 1 time fee of $89.99, or a monthly recurring charge of $14.99. If you were to take your pc into a computer shop, you'd most likely be charge ~$100 just for diagnostics, and then another ~$100 to actually do anything. Now let's say you buy a new computer with a router and a printer/scanner and all this other junk, and need help setting it up. Again, ~$100 for someone to come out and take a look. Another $150 to actually set up the equipment. Have random questions about how(to) make things work? Good luck getting specific answers from anyone other than PTS..
So, if you were to get the monthly recurring charge, you would have saved ~$350, if not more.
Just because you think you know what you're doing with a PC, doesn't mean the rest of the population does as well (Who are you kidding? Some people don't even know how to turn their pc on). |
|
 | I agree on that part Random that people don't know how to turn on their PC. They're people here who works in other departments on the campus I work on who is like "How come my monitor isn't coming on?" Its quite obvious PRESS THE BUTTON TO TURN IT ON!! It doesn't come on automatically. Oh wait its like on that commercial where these old people are in bed and they need light "The Clapper" clap your hands twice and anything comes on LOL.
Now its more like the lazy way with getting rid of the keyboard. Voice recognition typing with Microsoft Word !!!
Sooner or later, all tech support may have to be done over the phone instead of on here with Verizon Direct Forums which you will have more people asking you "I can't understand what your problem is. You are saying you have no connection. Right?" |
