Rockster : Heya - thanks for answering!

I must admit I didn't try that but there are a couple of reasons why I didn't.

Firstly, even though I'm the sys admin for our company, I'm only new at the job (someone quit and I was thrust into the position) and no one has told me boo about anything more than the most rudimentary systems. Having said that, each time I have tried in the past to change a setting, it seems I'm locked out by the sys admin from doing so. I feel like I'm in some new-world Catch 22.

Secondly, the cursor is double ( || sort of like that only so close together you can't make out what's going on), but it only appears like that on Word (and word related programs like Outlook) - it's not even a choice in the control panel.

I've looked on the internet but it seems either no one else is bothered by this, or we have some weird, mutant version of Office which was made by a disgruntled MS employee.

Our IT guy is so over-worked and under-paid that he couldn't be bothered by something so trivial. He's still trying to perfect a script that will stop everyone getting the 'machine name not unique' error message. But that's another program and not even remotely MS related.

anon : Hey Rockster, long time no see!

I feel just as silly suggesting this, but have you tried changing the cursor through the Control Panel?

Control Panel > Mouse > Pointers > Browse > find the cursor you wish to use > click OK and voilà!

Rockster : This is a very silly problem but it's annoying almost everyone at our office.

Recently we upgraded from Office 2003 to Office 2007. We've been able to find almost everything (including the often elusive 'select all') and change it to accomodate our needs but one thing is still bugging us.

The cursor that you get with Word 2007 is double. Instead of one straight line which allows you to see exactly where in a document to place it, the cursor is two vertical lines which makes it very difficult to tell where it's placed, especially next to periods and commas.

Is there ANY way to get a single line cursor which is standard for every other application on a computer that I've ever seen? Am I asking too much of Microsoft?

Please can anyone help with my stupid but frustrating problem.
