Linksys Diag light...

I have Linksys WRT54G ver1 running HyperWRT 2.1b1 Thibor 15c...

Lately, the 'diag' light has turned on. My connection is fine, I can access the web and the wireless laptop is able to connect without problem. I had tried resetting the router itself and it had worked for only a few weeks. Now, the 'diag' light is back on again.

None of the solutions I've search seemed appropriate... since it's not blinking. Is it the power supply? Unplugging and replugging didn't seem to work... What could be the cause of this?

Thanks for any help for suggestions.

Oh... thanks Dustyn

I've been looking in the settings on the router but I have no idea on how to either reset the nvram setting or repair it.

I really dont want to press and hold the reset button because I've did that a few weeks ago and the problem has turned...

before you clear the nvram setting what power supply are you using

Linksys or 3th party PSU

Please Note that 1.0 USES 5 VOLT @ 2.0Amps PSU

using an 12volt will fry it i have done that before

it's the original linksys power supply which is the 5v at 2.0 amps

When my PS was going bad on my v1, my diag light would come on. I would suggest finding a replacement, preferably one from Linksys. They need to make sure it is the 5v 2amp. I switched mine out with my old La Fonera router PS and it is rated the same and the pinout is the same. It works great even more than a year later.

i have another linksys router (BEFSR41) but that ps doesn't fit into wrt54g... I'll look into a ps replacement...

well, i unplugged the power supply and now it doesn't even work. lol

and i can't find anything around the house that has the same voltage... i'm curious, a 9V 2A power supply wont work would it? It has to be 5V, right?

any links where i can find a replacement? all the ones i've looked at are for later models...

I depends on what you router to do - create smoke or work as a router. You never want to use a high (or lower) voltage on any device.

router's burnt as well... now i have to buy a new one... i wanted to test if it was the router or the power supply... i think the 9v plugged for 1 sec... killed it. lol

what's the best custom firmware for wrt54gl?

thanks for the help and suggestions
