Yes, you need to install the LightScribe System software first. Get it here:

IMHO, the best LightScribe/label printing software is SureThing.

The DVD burner must have the LightScribe feature (and logo on the faceplate). Most newer ones do.
Naturally, LightScribe media is also required.

Nice disk howie. It makes me want to try mine out. I've had the burner for a year and have been too cheap to buy any lightscribe disks.

I will now.

I just use them for stuff like OS backup/slipstream discs and other "special" stuff. Normally I just use the ubiquitous Sharpie.

Did you remember to turn the disc over (label side down)?
Just remember... "Burn-Flip-Label"

BTW, that's the same Samsung burner I have (PATA version).

Sorry to hear that...
I know this is a dumb question, but you are using LightScribe media, right?
If so, I'm thinking it might be a bad disc as I've used a few different brands (HP, TDK, Verbatim) and media types (DVD/CD) over the last few years and they always worked just fine. The other possibility is a bad drive but I highly doubt it.

Lightscribe Logo
No, that's a regular 18X DVD-RW DL burner. The dead giveaway with any LightScribe drive is the Lightsribe logo on the front panel (see above).

Oh, LOL...OK.
I looked up your drive (google search) and found it does not have Lightscribe.
BTW, how does the end user replace a drive when they have those custom panels?

The Front Panel can be removed to remove
the DVD Drive. Just a few More step than a
Custom Build Computer. Maybe can remove
after open the side Panel as well. But I haven't
look into that...!

Thanks, I've seen some where the drive "door" is actually a part of the case front. I'm guessing that may be the case for you as well.
