OK, I know some of you have artistic talent (I don't) and maybe you can help me with something.

I have logo that I want to recycle (a stylized rose). All I have is a slightly grainy black and white GIF file, and I would like to sharpen it up and convert it into a vector based format so that I can recolor it for use with PPT or whatever. All I have to work with is the normal MS stuff (Paint, Powerpoint, and the old MS Photo Editor).

It there a what to go about this with the normal MS tools? If not, it there another software you can suggest that will yield the same result?

there is another forum here where the regulars like to take on projects like this. post your logo there and let them take a stab at it.
i can't remember the name of the forum, but it contains 'graphics'.

I don't know of a "normal MS tool" that can do raster-to-vector conversion. But there are third-party tools.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I grabbed a freeware called Inkscape and it has a built-in scanner that did the trick for me. It took a tad of clean-up in MS Paint to flesh out some of the corners, but then it scanned it nicely.
