Dell XP cds

Will dell XP cd work/install on any pc.
They are marked with Dell on them on the cover
Says for re installation.

Believe that they will only work on Dell PCs as they are tied to the BIOS.

Some royalty disks will work on other brands. I use them all the time to do that.

If you're prompted for a PID, you will need to enter the PID on the COA label on the case.

You'll have to match the OS install disk to the PID you have. If you built your computer you will need a retail OS CD for example.

Dell XP CD's will work on other brand/make motherboards/BIOS's. BUT you must have a OEM key other then a Dell OEM to properly activate it. If you use the Dell OEM key on another brand/make motherboard/BIOS the activation will come back with a error that the key is tied to specific manufactures hardware which you are not using.

All that said a Dell XP CD may not even boot with certain motherboards/BIOS's or boot then just kick you out.
