Driver Installation Hints
* "Download Accelerator" utilities should be disabled when downloading any drivers.
* Do not run virus protection software in the background while installing the drivers. This prevents the driver from configuring itself properly.

| reply to DownTheShore said by DownTheShore :To up date the driver, do we just run the .exe file, or does the current driver have to be uninstalled first? (Obviously, I'm out of my element with this one ) Uninstall the graphics driver in ADD/REMOVE. Then go to "My computer">C>Nvidia and delete the Nvidia folder. Then boot into safe mode, and use driver sweeper found here. »www.guru3d.com/index.php?page=driversweeper Empty recycle bin.
Next, boot back to your desktop, and just for the heck of it, run your fave reg cleaner. Now install the new drivers.
Note: All previous settings will be lost following these instructions. |

| reply to BinaryXtreme Yeah. If it ain't broken, don't fix it!
What was the concern for most of you guys to update to this new version? Just want to stay up-to-date?
I just hate when something is working but thinking you'll either get better performance, or other features are added, you run the risk of having more problems. -- Anime / F@H |

I always update my graphics drivers because I am a closet gamer. Allot of times the new drivers will contain game glitch fixes, and sometimes give better FPS. If you just surf the net, do email, and other various tasks, and all is working fine, then don't update. |

If you are not a "gamer", and you only need it to run well (in other words, nothing is "glitchy"), then you may indeed not opt to update, however, for folks who need every bit of performance that a given card can deliver, it makes perfect sense to update. -- ...something is happening here but you don't know what it is...do you, Mr. Jones? |

| reply to BinaryXtreme I'm a pretty big gamer and have had times when updating drivers would cause major problems. Like messing with the built-in scaling, or textures ends up popping out in games or BSODs.
I'm not saying people shouldn't update but to always take caution when updating drivers that could fix one thing but mess something else. Lots of forums out there, especially driverheaven, with plenty of guinea pigs to check things out with -- Anime / F@H |

| reply to BinaryXtreme Server 2003 x86?
OK, I recently purchased a FX5500 for my Windows Server 2003 x86 box and have had many issues getting a resolution of 1680x1050 without it overscanning.
I think that part of my problem might be that nVidia doesn't officially support Server 2003 x86, though they do seem to support Server 2003 x64.
Any ideas?
