| [VPN] VPN with RV042 and WRT54G
Hello, I would like to link my home and work networks with a VPN, mainly being able to access work resources from the home network (not so much vice-versa). At home I have a WRT54G and at work I have an RV042. I have previously connected to the work using Linksys QuickVPN software, which worked but seemed a bit flakey to me, and I would like more than one computer at home to use resources at the office. Is there a firmware that I can download for my WRT54G to accomplish this or is it more trouble than it is worth and should I buy another device for home that supports VPN, to replace the WRT54G?
Thanks for any advice, Martin |

| if you are referring to setting up a "site-to-site" vpn so that the two networks are "bridged", then i would say that you need to upgrade to a cisco type device (though i'm sure that juniper, zyxel, and maybe "business grade" stuff from linksys, dlink, or netgear may have that type of availability). this permanently sets up a vpn tunnel that all machines can access.
i am not sure if dd-wrt has a workaround for this yet since the linksys vpn is an ipsec client and dd-wrt is an ssl client. you may try and find a way to run openswan on the wrt, but i'm doubtful at best.
