Re: Wildblue Cancellation Experience

Irony. The activity the call center is best at is cancellations...

June 14th, @09:51AM

It took me 4 phone calls due to being cut off every time I chose the cancellation option. A very nice and seemingly concerned young lady tried to talk me into keeping the service.

I explained that the FAP/RUP meter is wrong and that support was useless. I had my modem unplugged overnight and my usage went up by 1%!! I then unplugged it for 6 more days straight and it only went down 2%. I had been fapped on April 19th and was still suffering from the effects.

Bottom line is my new ATT aircard is limited to 5gb but if I use 4.99 gb before the month is over, I will not be fapped, I just have to not use it so much and my speed stays the same. I don't get throttled simply because I am getting close to the limit.

Wildblue now FAPS you at 70% which means you can never use the remaining 30% you are paying for!

That is no different than if you rented a car for a week and they come and take it away from you on Thursday afternoon.

If all business had this approach, they would not be in business for very long.

In the interests of accuracy: WB FAP's a 100% and unFAP's at 70% (formerly 80%).

It's like renting a car for a week and discovering that driving around with trunkfull of DVDs has higher bandwidth than WildBlue.

No, WildBlue warns you at 80%, FAPs you at 100% and reinstates you to full speed when you drop back down to 70% of your limit. What is so difficult to understand about this?

I beg to differ with you as I was fapped at 80%, my pecentage did not go down with the modem unplugged for 6 days straight. I was paying and could not use it. My speed went down to about 26k at one point so I had no choice but to find an alternative. I must say that it was a good decision. I am now officially done wasting any more breath on WildBlue. Anyone who loves to sign one-sided contracts that a million dollar lawyer cannot break and no speed guarantees combined with lots of Gateway problems and weather outages as well as untrained amateurs for Tier 1 support is more than welcome to join.

Beg all you want, you're still wrong! Enjoy your new alternative.

I am not sure why there should be confusion on this matter. I was told today, after getting a warning email yesterday, by a WildBlue rep that anytime my usage goes over 70% my speed will be throttled back. Installer said nothing about the FAP. Total crooks.

I was just nailed for $552.00 early cancellation fee even though my contract ran out November 2006!. I had a no contract account an decided to quit. I have been trying to get my money back for several days now to no avail even though they admit it was a mistake. beware folks beware.

Now I suppose that you can argue that technically I'm still over by 14MB... but the Google Tool shows me at 70%. HMMM.. think when the 14MB falls off they will unfap me automatically? I highly doubt it. I bet it will be a few more days before they unfap me.
