still behind the times.

They still don't have DVR's, HD, Phone service, or any internet in our area. And we don't live in BFE either. I honestly can not name one person in our area that uses thier service. The funny thing is they use the same form flier in all areas and most of the page is blank where it should show services they offer. And it has one blurb about "digital cable". Its really sad to see a big cable company be so far under in money that they can not spend money to upgrade and actully provide services that would attract customers. Kinda damned if you do damned if you don't for them in our market.

Yes,
Behind the times as far as most other cable companies, but, fwiw, they have always rocked here.

Sure, mail is quite often crap, which has been my complaint with them since day one. Their website has always been so out of date or inaccurate it isn't funny also.

I guess I can live with those 2 issues as I don't use Outlook/Charter mail much, and don't care about their website either.

Actual service has been so good for the 8+ years I've been with them, have only called support 3 times ever, and all 3 times was just to see what the status of my area was because they were down due to weather (2) of maintenance (1).

As long as they can keep their head above water and not rape me TO bad on price, they are better than my alternative Verizon DSL.

Not to sound like a prude, but how is Arkansas NOT BFE? I've driven through the state a multitude if times and it's about as BFE as one can find..... It ranks 34/50 for population density, too. So it's not a figment of my imagination.

well by BFE i mean in a rural area I live in the suburb of the capital city. Just because we don't have people packed side by side from left to right to top and botom does not make it all rural. Granted there are only two areas that I would not call fairly small. And by that I mean Fayetteville/Bentonville and the Little Rock metro area. Our area just happens to be still under an older agreement with Charter so they have no competition there for no services. If you cross the county line right up the road we have Comcast with every service you could think of same with ATT they offer it all. But due to franchise agreements Charter can ignore providing services that people want because they know they are not worried about having to go anywhere. Im just lucky that we had an independant WISP open up in our town due to being tired of not having services. They have been great for us nice guys running the show. A little pricey but they are the only providers so they get to name thier prices.

Well that sucks. Is there no way citizens can get a referendum on the ballot to null and void the old agreement with charter? I bet if that many people were upset, a vote would pass (pending what you state is true). Might be something to think about. Wouldn't that be a kick in the balls to Charter LOL. Anyway, at least you got a minor alternative. Wireless isn't the best. However, it's a step up from dialup to say the least. Either way, it might be worth fighting them, who knows.

well charter sent a rep to the city council meeting about the whole UVERSE thing that has yet to be turned on in our state. And they city council told them in shortened form that if they were not going to provide services then they had no business telling others that they could not provide services to the community. But all we got out of that deal was a whole bunch of telco equipment all over the place and nothing turned on. But the WISP does do well and it is nice being able to talk face to face with the guy who runs it when you have a problem. Like my antenna was a little out of align last week and i called him and he had someone at my house on the roof in 20 mins flat and had me up and working like a charm.
