They haven't messed up their HSI service offering yet...What other provider is offering 16mbps/2mbps as a standard tier, no BW caps, and (depending on the market) no port blocks?
Say what you want about the internal affairs, but they're still in business, growing their product offerings, and provide solid performance.
Cable technology, as a whole, is affected by so many things that can degrade performance, but to call Charter a "bad" company is far from accurate. -- :: my trivial ramblings :: |

Charter HSI has improved dramatically throughput-wise in my area recently, as I always achieve 100% of my provisioned throughput. However, the extremely poor service and customer support I received a couple years ago still leave me disliking Charter overall. And I certainly wouldn't assume that just because service improved in my are that service has likewise improved in other markets.
Not to mention the charade I had to go through when upgrading to 10/1 a couple weeks ago. I was chatting online with a customer support executive:
me: How much will my bill be increased if I upgrade to 10/1? (I know it should be only $5 a month) Charter: That will be an additional $15 a month. me: Really? It says here that it should be $5 a month. Charter: Oh, I'm sorry, it is $10 a month. me: I'm not willing to pay more than $5 more a month. Charter: Oh, that's right, it's $5 a month. Would you like me to upgrade your service?
