Most of Comcast's network is 550Mhz or less
That's an interesting statement, because they told their investors that 95%+ of their network is 750MHz or greater capacity.

See slide 10.
That's interesting. Can us users verify this in any way? In looking at my modem settings I can see the frequency it's currently operating on. Mine shows 591 for downstream. 332 for Upstream. Above 550 but lower than 750. Not sure if that means anything however. Other parts of the city here could be higher or lower.

They can use whatever frequency they like. Typically its at the high end of the spectrum for downstream, lowest end for upstream.
Its really whatever the local area deems works best for them.

Also some areas have employed a second downstream channel. Sometimes in the 500-600mHz range.

that isn't the capacity your looking at.it's just the "channel" frequency it rides on.it should be 33.2 for up stream.all companys have an allocated bandwith of 0-42 upstream and 50-851 downstream.

Huh ? I can't speak for jbob, but I don't understand that reply ?

And that particular "channel frequency" of which you speak 33.2 is not universal to any given area or all areas...

I assume you mean joos, not jbob?

i wasn't saying 33.2 is a universal frequency.i said 0-42 is the return path for all companies.and the original question was if that was the capacity of the cable.

No, I meant you bud. I meant that I can't speak for you, but I, personally, did not understand joos's post, and still do not..
