| Wildblue Cancellation Experience
Last June I had Wildblue.net installed as my only option at the time was Satellite or Dial-up. EVDO was coming into the area but Verizon was to limited and not actually live with REV A yet.
Luckily, as it turns out I only had a one-year contract (which expires June 4/2008) and I pay a month in advance.
1. I called 1-866-WILDBLUE (1-866-945-3258) today at 3pm EST 2. Went through the menu system 3 - 3 - 1 3. Promptly answered call by a very nice lady. Amanda. 4. Asked why I was canceling. My response was because I now had access to SPRINT EVDO and I preferred a less latency connection. 5. She offered $25 off an extra month service to compare to my new EVDO side-by-side, but I declined as I have already tested it to my satisfaction. 6. She went away a few minutes to check things and get a confirmation number. 7. 5 minutes later, she returned and gave me the number and said I was all set. 8. I asked about the equipment, and it turns out I purchased it outright from the beginning so I am free to keep, or resell to a local dealer, or other user.
Total time: 11 minutes
I must admit I was amazed at how prompt, easy, and painless that was.
Thanks Wildblue .. |

| It took me 4 phone calls due to being cut off every time I chose the cancellation option. A very nice and seemingly concerned young lady tried to talk me into keeping the service.
I explained that the FAP/RUP meter is wrong and that support was useless. I had my modem unplugged overnight and my usage went up by 1%!! I then unplugged it for 6 more days straight and it only went down 2%. I had been fapped on April 19th and was still suffering from the effects.
Bottom line is my new ATT aircard is limited to 5gb but if I use 4.99 gb before the month is over, I will not be fapped, I just have to not use it so much and my speed stays the same. I don't get throttled simply because I am getting close to the limit.
Wildblue now FAPS you at 70% which means you can never use the remaining 30% you are paying for!
That is no different than if you rented a car for a week and they come and take it away from you on Thursday afternoon.
If all business had this approach, they would not be in business for very long. |

| Wildblue now FAPS you at 70% which means you can never use the remaining 30% you are paying for! In the interests of accuracy: WB FAP's a 100% and unFAP's at 70% (formerly 80%).
It's like renting a car for a week and discovering that driving around with trunkfull of DVDs has higher bandwidth than WildBlue. |

| reply to blacksheep I beg to differ with you as I was fapped at 80%, my pecentage did not go down with the modem unplugged for 6 days straight. I was paying and could not use it. My speed went down to about 26k at one point so I had no choice but to find an alternative. I must say that it was a good decision. I am now officially done wasting any more breath on WildBlue. Anyone who loves to sign one-sided contracts that a million dollar lawyer cannot break and no speed guarantees combined with lots of Gateway problems and weather outages as well as untrained amateurs for Tier 1 support is more than welcome to join. |

| reply to ewbragg I was also slowed down 2 weeks ago and still awaiting my service to go to a usable level. When I got the email letting me know I was close to the level I tried getting online and checking. Now that they have gone to Google the web page with the graph is no longer accessible. So I loaded up their meter more than once. Terrible tool. By the time I got everything working it was too late, I had reached the 100% mark. I tried upgrading my service and the customer service rep said that it would not speed up the process I would still have to wait the 30 days to get my internet to a usable speed. I suggest anyone that believes that Wild Blue is getting a month worth of pay for nothing contact the FCC. They have a complaint form online. If enough complain maybe they will not only fix their customer service but also do a better job at providing what you pay for. |

The only way I could see this as possible is if somehow you downloaded 17+ GB or uploaded 5+ GB all on the one single day you were fapped before the fap kicked in, which doesn't seem like it would be possible.

| reply to blacksheep I am not sure why there should be confusion on this matter. I was told today, after getting a warning email yesterday, by a WildBlue rep that anytime my usage goes over 70% my speed will be throttled back. Installer said nothing about the FAP. Total crooks. |
