Re: [Tomato] connection keeps dropping

I might be completely off but who knows! I've read somewhere that Vista's TCP/IP v6 protocol might cause problems on some Dlink routers. Since then I've made a habit of it to un-check it from all my client's PCs to be safe.

Also make sure to reset your cable modem every time you connect the modem to a different device. I've seen it happen with our local cable modems... they sometimes just stall when a new device is connected to the cable modem.

If the problem is the quantity of simultaneous connections I now there is a tweak for it in Tomato. Will post it in a few.

The default maximum connections in Tomato is 2048. The default established timeout value (the infamous "5 day" value) is 4 hours. You can change these values in Advanced/Conntrack if you like.
Aslo try this:

Why can't my router get an IP address using DHCP?

* Verify that hostname is valid (Basic/Identification).
* Go to Advanced/DHCP and try enabling "Reduce Packet Size".

I turned off ip6 like you suggested. I guess wait and see. i will buy a new modem to test that as well. i will get the sb5101. is there a better modem than that? i dont know what else to do here.

I did reset the modem b4 i turned the router on.

the dchp seems just fine. i have both pcs working on it with addresses given to them. i can try that reduce packet size.. but i dont know what the hell that does.

any other suggestions.. also how do i access my sb5100 page so i can post the log of that.. i cant remember 168.1.50.1?
