[HN7000S] Got my afternoon/evening speeds back !!

Like many of you on this forum, I also experienced significant download speeds after 1 pm Eastern over the last few months. My speeds would drop from 1 mbps to 90 kbps at exactly the same time each day.
Anyways, long story short, a week ago, my afternoon speeds started picking up, and last Saturday evening, my download speeds were 800+ kbps.
I've done nothing at my end, no phone calls to HN, modem had not been turned off etc. I guess the only difference was that my daily activity was reduced, especially after 1 pm. I average 150 mb up/down a day, and haven't fapped in over a year. I've never run p2p, though, I do use Second Life - an online virtual world, while I'm logged in, there's a continuous stream of data across the modem, typically 65 kbps down / 25 kbps up, sometimes more if I'm in a crowded area. I wonder if HN mistook this pattern for p2p activity.......
Anyways, I'm pretty happy with my speeds again !!

I've been pretty lucky with mine the last few years. During the rare times (2x or 3x) in the last couple of years where I had an extended slowdown of several days or so it would only last for a week until the next time that Hughes did a load balance on the transponder or gateways and then it was back to good speeds again. It's screaming this morning with much better than pro plan speeds.

Ditto here. The last several days have been a substantial change from the 4-midnight bogdown (93W/1216). It's actually a pleasure to use it in the evening.

People have been complaining about their speeds being throttled during the evening hours so I checked mine over a week. I've kept resetting my bandwidth monitor and have not seen any slowdown in speed. I've been able to pull as much as 1100 kbs during this time. I have noticed a delay in the information getting started but not in the down speed even when my p2p program is running.

Our neighbor down the road also has Hughesnet. I need to see what info they have but her speed test an hour ago was 1320 down.

Are any of you in the Verizon or Sprint coverage areas? I signed up for SMBB and a month later dumped Hughes. This is my typical perfomance 24/7 with no FAP.

Bummer! I'm in the middle of nowhere but at least I have both Verizon and Sprint. One T-1 though so it's subject to loading. So far that's not been much of a factor.

Boy, I'm out of touch. I don't even know what SMBB is. We're in the South (Arkansas) which is more Cingular, I think.

Sorry, SMBB stands for Sprint Mobile Broadband. I'm using a Franklin CDU-680 EVDO modem plugged in my USB port on my desktop. I use the desktop for ICS (internet Connection Sharing) to feed a Linksys 54G router for my wife's laptop. So far it makes Hughesnet seem stone age with their overloaded and full of bandwidth hogs satellites.

Just a report again

Last night blue lights keep going off and unplug it 15 mins and back to normal. It rain really hard so that could of been it.

I hope 4pm speeds still be normal and not slow.

I'll have to check on the Sprint thing. As of now, I am being throttled already (3:41PM CST) so this is outside of peak times. I have to be home tomorrow at this time as well so I can call "tech support" with a legitimate complaint but I don't think it will do any good.
