| [XP Home] Weird keyboard issue
Hey guys, got a weird one that has me stumped.
System is running XP Home, keyboard works fine outside of windows, you can enter/change BIOS settings, boot to safe mode, etc.
The problems occur once the system has booted to the desktop. The keyboard freezes up, and you cannot use it. Mouse works fine, and you can get around with it. Just no keyboard. Num lock is lit.
What I've tried / noticed:
If I boot into safe mode, under the user's account, the keyboard still does not work, same as before, however, as soon as you log off, the keyboard comes back. If you go into Administrator, the keyboard works properly. This leads me to thinking it's something in that specific profile.
I've looked at startup, as well as the registry for malware/virus traces, and don't see anything out of the ordinary. Event logs also show nothing out of the ordinary, or errors.
This happens regardless of keyboard used.
Any ideas? |

Disabled all startup items in msconfig, both under startup as well as services (non-MS) No change. |

| Check if you have StickeyKeys or FilterKeys (can't remember which one would do it) checked in Accessibility. |

| Thanks! That was it! Filterkeys was on.
Wouldn't have thought of that. You learn something new every day. That would explain why the admin account worked too.
Thanks again. |
