| Chicago Upstream Speed Enhancements
Check your modem if you live in the Greater Chicago Land area as I've seen increased upstream speeds on my modem. Word has it that Comcast in Chicago has increased to 6/1 speed tiers and 8/2 speed tiers! You might have to reboot your modem to see the increase.
Another great move by Comcast to beat the competition to the game. |

But until it gets moved, it's good for the competition. Change the 16 meg tier to 20 and they can match rcn. (Rcn has a 20/2 tier. Capped at 22000 kbps for download and 2200 kbps for upload.)
Any hints on what the caps are for comcast's new upload tier? Is it right at 2000kbps?

Well it still has power boost. I've seen boost of up to 3000kbps. Best part is that it has been very consistant too!
I agree with the match of RCN and I really think this is the first of good things to come from them this year. Competition is a great thing!! |

Upload powerboost, if you have a 2000 upload after PB fizzles, you'll likely see something close to 4000 until it fizzles out back to 2000.

I saw the change last night as well north of Chicago. I get around 3000 kbps in upload speedtests now with PB. |

I wonder if the upstream upgrades have anything to do with the outage we had the other day in the Chicagoland area and I wonder if the speed increase means that wideband will be here soon as the Twin Cities upgraded 6MB and 8MB plans too. I can only hope.... |

The entire market. ( even though according to some insanely informed members, comcast doesnt believe in anything higher then 768 up... )
