I encountered the SAME EXACT issue just this past week while trying to add a wireless N router to my network for better signal. It was alarming because I had set up the non-Verizon DSL service over a month ago with no issues. Apparently the 327W was already 'unlocked' because I was a Verizon customer. I knew there had to be a way to outsmart this thing. I could successfully ping out to yahoo.com so the DNS was good... But there was NO WAY that router was allowing anything to pass through port 80 without being unlocked. I was about to give up hope when I read the choices there on the default screen.... It just wanted a valid Verizon user name and password. My mom still has the verizon, and I set it all up for her. So I entered her user name and password, the router was able to authenticate with the Verizon servers, even though it was on a non Verizon connection. As soon as I got past that, it prompted me to download. I let it get almost through, went back into the config page, changed my PPPoE user name & Password, canceled the download and that was it. I have been up and running ever since. So--to sum it up you need a buddy who still has the verizon service to entrust you with their user name & password just to unlock it. |
