All mergers result in loss of mgt staff in the support departments like IS, Marketing, Accounting, Legal, etc.
That is partly how they justify these mergers to Wall St - more efficient operations with lower overhead. -- My BLOG .. .. Internet News .. .. My Web Page |

Well, with me being one of their newly displaced managers, it's still a kick in the balls no matter what way you cut it... -- If it doesnt fit FORCE IT! If it breaks then it needed to be replaced anyways. |

When FIOS is completed at VZ, I really hate to see the carnage among non-FIOS techs.
AT&T's Union is bracing for contract negotiations: "CWA locals representing members at AT&T across the union kicked off the "one year to a new contract" mobilization with leafleting and workplace actions across the districts in advance of 2009 negotiations. AT&T Mobility members also joined in, to show support for a united CWA at AT&T and to gear up for the AT&T Mobility Orange negotiations; that contract expires in February 2009." »www.cwa-union.org/news/at-t-memb···ion.html
AT&T didn't announce this is if they aren't going after the Union next year. -- Saving the world keeps me busy. However, I find Earth very primitive from my home planet of Krypton. -Supergirl |

| reply to TK Junk Mail Unfortunately these companies often see technical support and customer service as a place to cut expenses. They have these efficiency studies that say they can reduce the number of employees who deal with the customer 1/3rd and still have the same level of service.
Wrong. Cuts in customer service, while profitable short-term, can really come back to burn you long term as you alienate your customers and repeatedly irritate them.
Course management types never see it this way. It's always the employees failing to execute their brilliant management plan... of course. -- "Regulatory capitalism is when companies invest in lawyers, lobbyists, and politicians, instead of plant, people, and customer service." - former FCC Chairman William Kennard (A real FCC Chairman, unlike the current Corporate Spokesperson in the job!) |
