Re: Uhhh...

The cable company, VOIP company, and so forth can raise their rates ANYTIME. And they have and will continue to do. The telco's can't just lower their price or change the price of something to please you, there is a regulation on everything and in order for it to be offered, changed, and so forth, it has to be approved. So, if this continues, then basically, the teclo's would disappear, and then your cable companies would be a monopoly and it starts all over again. Gee, is that what we want? Really...

Residential line charge, Federal excise tax, Local communications services tax, State gross receipts tax, Telecommunications Relay Service, County 911 Funding Fee, Federal subscriber line charge are out of their hands.

Other charges like calling plans, other add-ons and invented changes like regulatory cost recovery fee are routinely changed and/or charged by the telcos.

The telcos don't like the fact the cable companies are doing it and charging less at the bottom line. Simply put they could charge less on the non-regulated side to compete with the cable providers, but they instead have taken a different approach.
