Re: Uh Oh

I had 20/20 internet for about a week in Brooklyn. I upgraded last night to 50/20.

1.7GB test download, in 5 minutes, from Oracle was just sick.

Only $89 too.

"Only."

Nice speeds and product for sure, but.... You pay over 3 times what I pay for my little 1Mb line.

Nice cheap price, but ... Natoma is paying a very small fraction of the price that you pay when you calculate bandwidth per dollar spent.

Very true, and it translates into a fantastic internet connection. One I'd love to have were it not for the price. Getting more for the same price is nice too. My 1Mb line costs just a little over what I used to pay for dial-up. Perhaps before long they'll be throwing away piss-ant 10 Mb lines for $25/month. Roll on FIOS!

ISP's are working hard to create higher revenue connections. Like cable, who would like to give over a hundred more stations for only $30 per month, faster speeds are only "a little more." With premium cable, internet, and cell phone I could easily pay more for them than I do for my house. We're being eaten alive I tell ya!

When FIOS TV becomes available, we'll have phone, internet, and TV for $99 triple play. Looking forward to that.

$90/month isn't really bad for 50/20.. For people that need that type of bandwidth, that is an AMAZING deal. For your average person and even most geeks, 50/20 is just overkill when considering the expense.

Consider that only a year ago I was paying $55 for 3mb/768k DSL connection, I think it's an amazing deal no matter how you look at it.
