| Blue Ridge Cable - PA I had a rant on here about 2 months ago about how slow Blue Ridge was in adding HD channels to their lineup. Since that time they have added:
VS./Golf HD The Weather Channel HD (no local on the 8's in HD yet. It's the national feed) Sportsnet NY HD Yes Network HD CNN HD Nat Geo HD MHD(which really isn't worth anyones time)
So 7 HD channels in 2 months isn't bad at all for a total of 27 and they say many more to come.

| blue ridge is a great company.... just the internet service they offer (i sadly use)
while it is fast and always on....
they are very shady in how they deal with customers.
They (PennTeleData) act cocky and treat customers like crap, they also have a lot of shady things they do with their TOS. Their highest bandwidth tier never sees the advertised 15000 download, more like 12000. One thing that pisses me, and alot of other PTD users... is the Bandwidth caps. They are supposedly 80GB down/45GB up as of maybe 4-6 months ago. Besides the fact that anyone who actually uses their internet for what it's designed for will burn up 80GBs in about 2-3 weeks. The problem is, these "caps" and NEVER advertised, not even in the fine print.
I happen to know a bit about how they run the buisness, and they waste their own time and money because of their stupidity.... File cabinets at a job agency is one thing, but an internet company should have abolished alphabetized file cabinets and got a damn server. Then they don't need to waste time and manpower doing what servers already do for free. Their minimal services they offer are also crap. G-mail gives me 6GB of email for free... I believe PTD gives me about 10-15 MB as part of the ~$60/month service.
They need to wake up and get ready, because the second FiOs hits the poconos, they'll be out of a job.

P.S. Maybe 500 is a typo and they mean "50"?

| Wow! Thanks for that link stunnerstorm! I was shocked at the first batch of new HD channels and now another great surprise! Animal Planet, Science Channel, TLC, and Discovery are channels I've been hoping for awhile now.
I wish they would tweak the HD Plus package though. For what they charge it doesn't seem balanced. Maybe add some Voom type channels. The only reason I get it is for National Geographic. Once my promotion is up HD Plus is definitely getting the axe though.
I also hope they tweak their phone service. I just signed up to their triple play deal and moved from Vonage. I was shocked to learn you have to dial 1+area code for every number, even local calls. And not having any online account management was disappointing. Either way, I'll never go back to Vonage and their sneaky "disconnect fee".

| Re: Blue Ridge Cable - PA Well I sure hope this puts the pressure on other cable companies in the area. Adams Cable is up to 39 channels now, by next week BRC will be up to 48. Plus BRC hasn't done a rate increase yet and, most of the HD is bundled w/basic plus (with addition of the box). Adams does HD as a la carte, so they hiked the price on that this month. | |

| Well, I noticed all the new channels! I wasn't big on how they moved all the HD channels to channel 601 and up though. I also noticed it looks like the Guide is different now. There is a TV guide icon in the movie descriptions I never noticed before. Also when I hit Guide on my remote I now see a "One Moment Please" in the upper right hand corner for a split second. VOD seems to be a bit snappier so thats a plus. Not sure if the entire guide got reworked or if it was just a software tweak. Regardless, I couldn't be happier with all these new HD channels! | |

1 edit | I have Scientific Atlanta boxes cypher. I have 3 regular boxes, I think they're Explorer 3200? Then the main box is for HD/DVR, not sure of the model number off hand but I think its the 8300 HD/DVR. Both models seem to have updated to the new guide. One small tweak I wish they would have done is make the HD boxes have a wide screen guide. If I stretch the guide my HD channels get stretched too. Minor gripe though. :P
