The big thing DTV has over Dish now is HD content. Dish has been losing some customers to DTV over this.

I have been a BellSouth phone and DSL customer for years. I have also been a Dish Network customer for several years. Will AT&T lower my bill because I already have BellSouth and Dish Netowk service?

Dish processes a $5 discount for Embarq customers who have a bundled bill, so I wouldn't be surprised if this was the same for AT&T. After all, ILECs are just business partners with their Satellite TV providers, not the actual providers of the service. The reason there is a bundle discount when you have Dish and Embarq combined is that customers who have Satellite are less likely to get cable for other services, which lowers churn for phone companies. Also, it costs Dish Network less money to have the phone company print the bill as a 3rd party, so Dish is saving money on bill printing and support. Obviously for these reasons a partnership between phone and satellite providers is mutually beneficial.
