[TV] Suddenlink's Interactive Program Guide?

Has anyone looked at Suddenlink's help site »just4metv.com/ ? No okay. I have known of its existence since the new site design but never checked it out until now.

If you watch the DVR & VOD demos you see the i-Guide (created by TV Guide/Comcast) which is available on Motorola's cable boxes (at least it was in areas near me where Charter had Motorola brand cable boxes)

Now from my understanding this guide is supposed to be available for Scientific Atlanta cable boxes (which I have) by the end of 2007 ([1] [2])

Now according to the demos Suddenlink must offer this guide at least to some of their subscriber base to use it in their demos. I have had a chance to use this guide at my aunt's house, her provider Armstrong provides the guide on their Motorola box and it is very easy to use. The OnDemand content is so organized and is easier to use. Basically all the functions have been improved greatly.

My question is the Scientific Atlanta version of the guide available and if so will it be deployed by Suddenlink to their subscribers that have Scientific Atlanta cable boxes? Because the current guide used on Scientific Atlanta boxes (SARA) looks outdated in my opinion.

I hope no one ignores this thread like my VOD threads. I would be interested on a tech to comment on this

I asked a Suddenlink rep about the guide when I called in about a billing issue.

She said that Suddenlink plains to launch the guide that is used in the Just4MeTV demos. She said that when they make the switch from the current guide to the new one customers would receive brochures a week in advance. But they currently don't have a definitive date for when this should happen.

Also Suddenlink is going to launch WWE 24/7 On Demand and have a free sample on ch. 996 "More On Demand" under the category "WWE Free". Currently the subscription channel hasn't launched but they did add the "WWE Free" but it doesn't have any programs listed right now.

Hello Brown.
So not to be ignored, as that may be because most in here just don't watch very much Television!
Thanks on that Interactive SL Web Link, as it does lay it out very well. The VOD with the SA 8300HD DVR, that I've had since the good old Charter Days for HD, but whenever I scroll about through just a few Menu Selections... will crash and reboot, and then Shutdown the Box...Cold, and have to Power On and patiently wait for several minutes to hopefully Reset. Yes, The Guide definitely looks Outdated.

Second your request for a Tech To Chime In!!

Sorry for the delay, however I have checked and the Motorola boxes are supposed to update at the end of March early April. I am checking on the Scientific Atlanta boxes to see if the IPG is going to be updated and when. As soon I find something out I will let you know!

Unfortunately any guide software upgrades are determined by the IPG company and not by us. As of right now, we are unaware of any planned upgrades to the Scientific Atlanta IPG.

longgone, if you would like to send me a PM with the name on your account and address I can look into your account and send a signal to your DVR receiver. Hopefully this will fix the issue with the box crashing, and if not then I can get it replaced for you!

Well darn. I hope the guide is replaced eventually. The SA guide is crap. I know from the articles that the people are making the guide are making an SA version. Oh well.

Thanks for the feedback!

I personally would rather have the guide that's already on my Motorola box. Comcast/Time Warner in Houston used the TV Guide branded guide on their boxes and every page was full of ads which make the guide extremely slow. I don't want to see ads on my tv guide.

If Suddenlink goes that route, it'll probably push me over the edge to the TivoHD.

Wasn't that the first guide they came out with that was also available in a "tan" color? The iGuide is a newer, better version by TV Guide/Comcast. It is fast and easy to use better than the first guide they created. My aunt's cable provider Armstrong had both versions.
