| reply to RadioDoc I don't see Harvey getting this at all. Most of the southern suburbs of Chicago are old and have very old telephone copper. Which means high signal-to-noise ratios. I lived in Harvey and it was a nightmare to get idsl let alone some super speed trick vdsl. Until At&t solves the distance problem this is not going to take off at all and Comcast will maintain its death grip on Chicago and surrounding areas |

Until At&t solves the distance problem this is not going to take off at all and Comcast will maintain its death grip on Chicago and surrounding areas The "distance problem" is "solved" by placing the equipment within 5000 feet of the customers. That's the whole point of it. The age of your copper is not the issue...although the maintenance (or lack thereof) certainly plays a role over time. I would guess that most of Harvey is newer than most of La Grange. -- Toolmaster of La Grange. |

| reply to Mr Anon The availability checker is up and running, but they are just starting to light up the Chicagoland area so the "yes" responses are quite limited at the moment. None of my numbers qualify yet, but I knew that already since the equipment I've seen around here is not operational yet. -- Toolmaster of La Grange. |
