I have changed my password
turned off remote assistance
UpNP is on this router but in previous routers were turned off but for Xbox Live UpNP works well

what do I need to do to tighten up security on my router

Turn off UPnP, period. A network with UPnP enabled can be blown wide open with the scripting language of your choice. It has zero authentication, it allows in arbitrary ports, and many implementations even allow port forwarding to machines outside the LAN.
