If you can not access the modem at 192.168.1.1 there are only a few possible causes.
1. - the modem is not working
2. - something is not hooked up right.
3. - there is a problem with your pc.
On your modem what lights are on? Start by going into network connections, right click on the connection that is in use (the network adapter that i shooked to the modem) and hit status, then, click on the support tab. What is the ip adress listed? If it starts with 169 try right clicking on your connection and hitting repair to see if you can get it to give you a 192 address. If not, you can try going to a command prompt and typing in ipconfig/release then press enter. Then, type inconfig/renew and hit enter. I would reboot at that point, then check and see what ip address you are now assigned. If it now starts with 192 see if you can get into your modem at the 192.168.1.1 if so see if youcan get online. If your computers ip address starts with 169 still, I would suspect wither the network adapter in your pc or the modem is faulty. Post what all lights are on on the modem as well. |
