If you can't compete on price....

Sue the company out of existence, gone are the days of real competition. No more quality service here, just screw the customer.

Why can't vonage compete without using patented technology? The're getting sued because they keep stealing other companies technologies.

They keep getting sued because other companies keep getting patents for an end instead of a means. Instead of patenting a specific method of doing something, they patent the end result. It would be like the wright brothers inventing the airplane and then patenting the ability to fly. A blatant example of this is "one click shopping"

I don't believe that is true. The patenting of an "end result" is essentially patenting an idea--you cannot patent an idea (e.g., flying, time travel, etc.). However you can patent a process or method which are probably the bulk of the claims made against Vonage. The "one click shopping" is an example of a process which appears to be the patenting of an "end result" only because it is so short (very few claims). As a side note, the Patent Office rejected Amazon's "one click" patent in October of this year based on existing "prior art" (i.e., not an original idea).

so by your statement, you believe Verizon should be able to charge companies for using SIP? And Sprint should be able to sell licenses for the EXACT SAME patents? Have fun paying $150 a month for phone service
