| [Wireless] BEFW11S4 Speed
Hi Guys,
My broadband speed when I connect wired directly to my modem is 100mbps.
When I'm running my linksys wireless BEFW11S4 to the three pcs the best I get on any one is 11mbps. So, is that down to me not selecting the correct settings in the router, the wireless network cards or they're settings, a poor router, or is this normal?

Hi Vince,
Your router is only rated at a theoretical wireless BW of 11 mbps. In real life 802.11b routers usually only see about 5-6 mbps of actual throughput. So if you're getting 11 it is essentially a miracle. Praise the lord!

Edit: I just reread your note. I don't think any provider is offering 100 mbps, so there is something kerflooey in your whole measurement process seems to me. |

It doesn't mean anything more then that.

If you are wireless, at best on a BEFW11S4, mousing over your connection in the system tray will show 11mb and not 100mb. That's because 11mb is the "speed" for a 802.11b connection which is what the BEFW11S4 provides. You only get a max of 1/2 of that 11mb, so you shouldn't see any speed past 5500mb.
