Re: Oh Dear They Might Get The Encryption Right In your XP example, I can tell you how it worked for me.
I copied Windows XP Pro. Yes, a pirated copy. Once I had it running and everything smoothed out and knew I wasn't going to need to go back to Win98SE, then it was time to buy XP.
Personally, I'm very glad there are places like TPB around. I believe they create a better marketplace for all of us. -- "Regulatory capitalism is when companies invest in lawyers, lobbyists, and politicians, instead of plant, people, and customer service." - former FCC Chairman William Kennard (A real FCC Chairman, unlike the current Corporate Spokesperson in the job!) |

And I think what's clear here is that you have zero respect for anyone.... other then yourself, that is.
So take your false, misplaced and arrogant attitude and shove it. Sideways. |

fiberguyMy views are my own.Premium join:2005-05-20 kudos:3 | Seems the only people I have low or no respect are those people, on your side of the isle, that think its ok to take from other people and violate the law.
Again, more spin from you. It's not "theft".. its "copyright infringement" ... either way, the OWNER of the INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY still requires people to pay a license fee to use it to which you didn't but enjoy the benefits of having the software. THAT is THEFT. But, I do love how people seem to think they are "just sampling it and deciding they like it"... ever heard of trial ware? Don't offer it for the product you want? .. then that should tell you it's "not ok"...
With all the spinning going on here, I'm surprised you haven't crashed through your coffee table yet from being so dizzy. -- "Complaining is the least path of resistance for the self-serving, the lazy, and Im told its a womans prerogative..." |

Umm, ever heard of Windows or MAC OS's? -- People pray to God because they're told to. |

fiberguyMy views are my own.Premium join:2005-05-20 kudos:3 | Um.. ever heard of English 4th grade?
The copies of Windows and Mac OS that is being talked about here are full copies of the software... NOT beta, and NOT trial-ware.
It was stated that a copy of Windows was downloaded which lead the path of purchasing a legal copy. A VERY piss poor argument for why PIRATE Bay is "ok"... and only endorsed by thieves.
I could care less about any further conversation on this. There is nothing NOTHING legal about people making copies of software and music available where there is a CLEAR law that prohibits it.
Those who believe this have to live with themselves - and be judged by others. I just happen to judge in this case.. I don't steal.. don't condone it.. and would spit on those that do. Stealing and breaking laws is wrong and leads to no where. Don't like the laws? Change them.. but to break them makes on a criminal. -- "Complaining is the least path of resistance for the self-serving, the lazy, and Im told its a womans prerogative..." |

In case you haven't noticed, no one has ever been prosecuted for doing as he mentioned. That would be because it's not stealing, and it's not criminal. Amazing how that works!

Doesn't matter either way.. the point is simple. I'd think that the FBI warnings are a pretty good indication that you don't do it. And YES, it IS theft.. its stealing.. and yes, it's against the law. Prosecuted? "AS HE MENTIONED"... great niche spin there. Have they? No.. why? It is just one and it's not worth it. HOWEVER, YES, people have been prosecuted for stealing intellectual property. People that have pressed several copies or made available the software to people have in fact been prosecuted. As for the large group of single people that do it? That's why they keep inventing things like WGA and why Comcast introduced Sandvine on to their network.
Go back to the drawing board to find another way to make the act smell like roses please. You can't justify breaking the law. -- "Complaining is the least path of resistance for the self-serving, the lazy, and Im told its a womans prerogative..." |

Okay, I'll follow along, I think the price of tea in China is hovering right around 120 Yang an ounce. I'm sure you'll correct me if I'm wrong.
If you've seen me around the forums at all, you'd know that I'm not interested in making anything smell like roses. Oh, and by the way, I have nothing to justify.

Re: Oh Dear They Might Get The Encryption Right Ever heard of blue tooth keyboards i*iot? If you had, you'd understand.. but wait.. they are priced at $159 for a set so I doubt you'd pay that much for anything.
Still.. what kind of a guy, in a discussion, goes after a single typo? Oh wait.. you! Because you have nothing to say.
I have to remember that one too.. I love it. NOT!

I was the one who made the typo, you didn't see it. I had China all jacked up. I was simply pointing out the irony of you going after someones English. My A.D.D. is starting to kick in This conversation has really digressed. If you'd like to return to the debate on the criminology of individuals downloading media. I'd be happy to go there with you. Otherwise I think you've damaged your credibility enough for one thread. I'll let you have the last word. I'm out.
