Rule #1: Never connect to Internet before the PAP2 is unlocked and provision is turned off.
Tip #1: Always use Wireshark or Ethereal to monitor and record what happened.
Tip #2: Before connecting PAP2 to your setup, use a second PC in place of PAP2 to check DNS and tftp setup. The second PC should get the cfg file when make tftp request to domain name of the tftp server (e.g. "tftp.viper-deltathree.com").
There are many ways to setup the system with DHCP, DNS and tftp, it is important to verified the setup with the second PC.
In my case, I turned off "using DHCP", assigned static addresses for the PAP2 and the PCs (e.g., 213.137.73.100 and 213.137.73.74).
Making DNS work for Window was most challenging for me. "bind", "PowerDNS" and "Redirect" are free but not easy to use. Even for SimpleDNS I had to edit the ini file to put in server address 213.137.73.74. |
