| Usage Page FAP calculator (for Firefox)I've just written a Greasemonkey script that calculates how much remaining download capacity is left, right on the HughesNet usage page.
You need to install Greasemonkey first: »https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/748
Here's the link to the script: »userscripts.org/scripts/show/12779
Once installed, all you need to do is visit the usage page.
You can save the following code in a bookmark (replace XXX with your site-id) to access the current month's usage without typing in your site-id every time:

| Re: Usage Page FAP calculator (for Firefox) nice... in fact wow.
Only thing that makes me uneasy is the warning on the site to install the script saying someone has been writing scripts to steal cookies... You best not be touching my cookies!!!!
but that aside it's freaking awesome, mad props to you.

Click "New Bookmark". In the Location field: paste the code. Replace "XXX" with your site-id. Give the bookmark a name.
You can also put a word like "usage" in the keyword field. Then you can type "usage" in the Location bar and it will go to the usage page.

If you have a DW6000 or higher, the proxy is on port 87 (»Satellite Forum FAQ »What browser proxy settings should I use with the DW6000? ). If you have a DW4000, you can also try port 85 (»Satellite Forum FAQ »Is there anything I can do to improve the performance of the DW4000 proxy server ). The "Server not found" error sounds like a DNS problem. Try again later or with a different domain.

| Re: Usage Page FAP calculator (for Firefox) I've updated the code to check for valid data. You can reinstall it here (same link as before): »userscripts.org/scripts/show/12779
Or you can try the following:
Option 1: Visit last month's usage page again. This should clear up any invalid persistent data.
Option 2: Type "about:config" in the location bar. Enter "direcpc" in the Filter field. Right click on each entry and choose "Reset"

| Re: Usage Page FAP calculator (for Firefox)Under the new FAP, the refill rate = one bucket/day. 500MB / 24hr = 20.83MB/hr = 46.3kbps
Looking at the usage data posted here (along with my own FAP experiences) confirms this fact: »[DW7000] One day usage levels... The first test was done without having been Fapped for a month and no usage in the last 24hrs. Looking carefully at the data, I noticed that there was a gap between 3am-6am in the second data set... the FAP free zone! Recalculating the first data set to include the FAP free zone demonstrates that the recovery rate is about 15.6MB/hr for BOTH tests. Therefore, unless I missed something, these are the new FAP parameters:
Plan Threshold Recovery rate kbps
Home 200MB 8.33MB/hr 18.52 Pro 375MB 15.63MB/hr 34.72 ProPlus 425MB 17.71MB/hr 39.35 SmallOffice 500MB 20.83MB/hr 46.30 Business 1250MB 52.08MB/hr 115.74

| Re: Usage Page FAP calculator (for Firefox) I'm very close to leave Hughesnet, that's why I did not test your software. But your recovery rates are on the conservative side. It looks like you got the home plan correct. But I posted it before, I have downloaded with 50 kbps recovery rate on pro plan and never got fapped. The threshold is NOT a 24 hour limit. Hughes does not claim that and also (except India tier 1) TS and billing will tell you that. So you can easy download over 400 MB a day (21 hour) on pro plan for as long as you want and you get not fapped. (but again thats only true when you are not triggering one of the errors in hughes implementation )

| My refill rate is definitly faster than that , Im with c-com and the Inet 200 plan allows a 150 k refill, just looking at the usage page when Ive been fapped confirms this , so I just need to change the factor to divide by but dont know where to do it. -- HughesNet Via C-Comsat,G11 1050,2 watt Osiris,1.2 m dish,DW 7000 Inet 200. 1500 dn X 300 up. | |

Updated the script to revision 4.
Now you can set the refill/recovery rate as well as the bucket size (download threshold). Also, the changes take effect immediately, no longer requiring you to reload the page.

| I got my new Software Release: 5.6.0.18 this morning now my FapMon isnt working :-(
I have a question about this script.
Does this "assume" you have a FULL bucket every morning? I wasnt sure because I never did go under 50% of my bandwidth before so I can not check.
Can anyone check for me please.. Thank You!

| Re: Usage Page FAP calculator (for Firefox) Change from 10 to 11? Not sure what you are referring to, but upgrading to revison 6 seems to have done the trick. Clicking on the previous month usage link provided by the script doesn't work. I just get this message..."The usage reporting tool is temporarily unavailable for users of DW3000 and DW4000 model satellite modems.
We are working on repairing this problem. We apologize for the inconvenience.
If you do not use a DW3000 or DW4000, you are seeing this message because we do not have usage data for your modem or you have entered an invalid SiteID" This doesn't apply to me, as I'm using the 6000. No big deal, just thought I'd mention it.:) -- Windows Vista Home Basic | DW6000 BEFVP41v2

| Re: Usage Page FAP calculator (for Firefox) From the end of post #1, if you replace the XXXXXXXX with your site id and save it as a favorite or bookmark, you can call up the usage page without entering your site id each time. You do have to change the year or month as time passes.

1 edit | I am also using revision 5 and changed the month to 11 dumped cache, re-booted, etc. to no avail. "Remaining (MB)" hourly column shows "NaN" with no info. It shows the date and times correctly for November. During our 3-6 AM free download time period it correctly shows my sumating 500 Mb+ hourly totals On the Small Buss plan. 1.5 Gig Total Sadly no go here.
