[Equipment] SPA 3000 / 3102 help desperately needed

Ive had a Sipura SPA 3012 for about 6-7 months now and still can't get this thing configured. I'e read forums for hundreds of hours and tried everything I can think of. I'm now at the verge of going insane trying to configure this thing.

Here is what I have:
A FWD account
A outging only VOIP account (requires registration)
A PSTN Line

Here is what I would like to do:
Make and receive calls to/from other FWD users.
Make calls over my outbound only voIP account.
Make and receive calls from my PSTN line (fxo jack).

-----------
(Note: I'm dont desire to call my ATA from outside the house and using it to make calls)

------------

Here's how I set it up...
Line1:
Has all the FWD account info and the outbound only VoIP account is entered in gw1
Port 5060

PSTN tab:
Has the outbound only VoIP account info.
port 5060
----------------

With This setup I can:
Make calls via the fwd acct or the outbound only voip account and receive calls on the fwd account and inbound call from the local phone company.

BUT cant make outbound calls via PSTN.

So Ive tried this:
In the PSTN tab of the configuration menue I changed the port number from 5060 to 5061. I was then able to:

Make and receive both PSTN calls and FWD calls. BUT calls failed on the outbound only Voip account.

-----------------------------------

What am I missing here??????? and if anyone has a working configuration they can post or email me it would be greatly appreciated.

Tahnks for your help,

As you discovered, the PSTN tab must have a different port number from the Line 1 tab. It is a separate function in the adapter and when you set up the PSTN tab with the same address (port number) as the Line 1 tab you are going to have troubles because in effect you have two adapters vying for the same packets.

The outbound calls on the voip provider registered on the PSTN tab would be from an incoming call on the attached PSTN line. Is that what you can't do? I suspect not.

The adapter wasn't designed to have two inbound/outbound accounts (two registered accounts) that you could use from the attached analog handset. If your "voip outgoing only" provider requires registration then you need to have it registered on the Line 1 tab. You can not use it as a Gateway provider on the Line 1 tab and use it from the attached handset.

You could get a different "outbound only" provider that doesn't require registration (there are many), you could put up a small Trixbox (Asterisk) system and deal with the two voip provider problem, you could get an account at someone like Voxalot who can deal with the problem, or you could get a second ata adapter.

Your right. I don't plan to make Voip calls with the incoming PSTN line. Just make outbound calls.

I was seriously misinformed then. Maybe there is a solution.
Please let me know what you think of my idea below.

If your "voip outgoing only" provider requires registration then you need to have it registered on the Line 1 tab.
Ok .. I can handle that

Just an Idea:
Do as you mentioned.. Take the 'outbound only' voip account and set it up under Line1 so it registers.

Take the PSTN tab and put any old inf in there. I 'think' that will allow me to me PSTN calls as well.

Then take the FWD account and forward all FWD calls to my Line1 VoIP account ~ hopefully ~ I can forward an sip Uri to it. if so.. then all will work.

Now IF I can't forward SIP Uri calls the the account that I only dial out from, then the only way to get around that problem would be to use a dynamic ip forwarding like no-ip.com and set the ATA to answer without registration.
(Which seems a little too intimidating for me right now)

Or my other option would be to do like you said and just get another Outbound only VoIP provider.

Do finally understand this ????

Actually you don't have to have any information in the PSTN tab proxy / userid in order to make an outgoing call on the attached pstn (FXO) line. You just need to have it setup in the Line 1 dial plan to send the call to "@gw0".

Then take the FWD account and forward all FWD calls to my Line1 VoIP account ~ hopefully ~ I can forward an sip Uri to it. if so.. then all will work.
You need to forward the FWD calls at the FWD account level. I believe you can do that on the "extra features" section of your FWD account. Your Line 1 VoIP provider needs to accept incoming voip calls. Some providers like Gizmo and CallCentric do, a bunch don't. You can test out the capability of your voip account to accept incoming sip uri call by trying to call it with a softphone (like SJPhone) setup to make sip uri calls.

Now IF I can't forward SIP Uri calls the the account that I only dial out from, then the only way to get around that problem would be to use a dynamic ip forwarding like no-ip.com and set the ATA to answer without registration.

Forwarding the sip uri call directly to your SPA is a possibility. It's not too complicated, but you do have to forward the sip signalling and possibly the rtp ports in your router. If your router supports dyndns then it is fairly easy to keep the adddress updated, otherwise you have to keep your computer running to update your symbolic address with a new ip address if it changes.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I really appreciate it!

Thanks to you I now understand what's going on here a hell of a lot better then I have for the past 6 months!!

This thing had me going crazy~~~~

Now that I can finally finish setting tis thing up... I'll run a home run directly from my DMARK to the FXO on the ATA and connect the FXS to all the house wiring (after separating house wiring from the PSTN outside the house of course).

Thanks Again!!
