Teleco Call Record Retention Period?

Would anyone know how long teleco voice call detail records are retained by telephone companies such as ATT or SBC?

Or more specifically, is it possible that ATT (for Pacific Telesis) would have call detail information going back to 1988? Does the data still exist somewhere? (Having problems getting this info from ATT.)

It could be very important, so any advice is appreciated.

Usually for however long your right to dispute billing information is. Could be three months, six, 12. Your subscriber agreement or the telco's tariff on file with the state PUC may indicate the retention period (or you could call your provider and ask).

It may be archived somewhere but good luck finding anyone who can retrieve it. I think you will have more luck if the calls were something that you were charged for and not part of a flat rate all you can type deal which is more common today.

Finally got the right department within ATT. They said 5-7 years.
