(Advanced) Port Forwarding On The Siemens SE567

I know this has been covered to some degree, but not in this much detail (at least that I can find on this site or others). Perhaps someone has gone through this already and has some insight on what I can do.

Here is my dilemma. I need to forward a port from the internet and change it when in hits my LAN and direct it to a specific (internal IP). I know how to forward a specific port through the Siemens and direct it to an internal IP, but I can't seem to find the feature that lets me change it from a 'Public' to a 'Local' port.

I've been to the website »www.portforward.com but I am unable to find anything that explains specifics for the Siemens SE567 model. I believe that TELUS has changed the firmware in such a manor that does not allow such advanced forwarding. The model they claim most resembles the SE567 is the SX522 and their walk-through has features I do not see in the SE567. On the 'Address Translation > Port Forwarding' screen, the XS522 has fields that allow you to specify 'Public' and 'Private' ports. The 'Port Forwarding' option in the SE567 has no such option.

I take it that I'm alone in this problem? No one else has encountered it?
Perhaps I didn't explain it in a way that is understandable? lol

It's entirely possible this feature is not supported by the SE567 hardware, or by the firmware installed on to it. I would expect that this ability would be fairly obvious in the port forwarding page, although I don't personally own an SE567 to give you any more information. This procedure is rather straightforward on my freesco router, and I've used it before with no problem.

There is port forwarding. It's just buried in the Advanced Settings. I have only had one client call in to request info on it so I can't remember the exact heading it is under.

Well my only help for you is that you open a new IE page. Type in your default gateway found in your connection status in the taskbar... If you dont know what this password is then call telus which as stupid as they are they probably going to do the same they done to me which is pretend they cant reset the password and try and get rid of you fast. But after the login page is where you need to change your settings which im unable to confirm which at the moment since their not letting me access in there.

And these telus representatives are extremely stupid too they know NOTHING about networking period. You explain 20 times you need such and such ports unblocked from your routers built in firewall.

Anyways i hope this helps. Although im sure you have tried this too.

In your router go to.

Internet>Firewall>Exposed Host>

Enable DMZ with this host IP address. And check yours.

All ports will be forwarded on your router when you do that.

Hi BndwdthBndt, did you find the solution for the SE567 port forwarding? I meet the same problem as you did. I appreciate you can share your solution if you have one.

Thank

Hello 'se567port'!

Actually, I have not found a solution with the Siemens. I appreciate everyone's response but sadly, nothing seemed to help. What I was asking for was not only to forward a port (which I already knew how to do), but have it change to a different port when it leaves my LAN. For instance, Windows RDC uses 3389 but that port is blocked where I was attempting to connect from. So I wanted the Siemens to change port 3389 to something else once it goes out to the enterweb.

Its a moot point now because I have retired my (new) Siemens. Unhappy with my seeming inability to do that, I've encountered another problem. For some odd reason, I am unable to even log into the Siemens Gateway at all now. Typing 'gigaset' or even the default gateway address of '192.168.1.254' takes me to a google search page or page can not be displayed on all 4 of my PCs. I can ping it, but I am not being directed to the log in page what-so-ever. I was able to log in once. Went through setting up my wireless WPA connection and since it rebooted, I am not able to get at all. I have hard resetting it about 27 times (no joke) but still unable to get in. I was able to surf and getting valid IPs, just couldn't get in.

So I have resigned myself back to using my 2Wire again. The 2Wire lets me use a different Host port so it seems to suit its purpose. My Siemens must be a dud. Too bad because I was very much looking forward to getting it. Perhaps one day I'll get it replaced but until they allow users to adjust something as simple as that, I'll be happy with my 2Wire.

Thanks a lot for you information. I guess I will not use se567 soon.

I can't get the port forwarding to work at all on my SE567. I don't need to switch ports or anything fancy, just route traffic to an internal ip address. I've set the ports to be forwarded under Internet>Address Translation>Port Forwarding, and they all show up under Internet>Firewall>Rules, but the forwarding doesn't happen. Any ideas?

Are guys trying to say that Telus did not put port forwarding functionality in the SE567 modem/router.....If that true that is a bigger screw than all the 2wire mess up's combined...

I've called Telus a couple of times about port forwarding ... both times they've told me that they don't provide support for port forwarding. They said they had an internal number for Siemens but that it wasn't open at the time, so they told me to check the website for Siemens ... the site is useless.

The second time I called, I got the same answer. This time they let me listen to the message on the internal support line they called ... that message said to check another website, eb.efficient.com. I checked it and it seems to be non-existent. I may have got the name wrong, tried different variations, but no luck.

I wouldn't be in such a rush to get support after hours if I could figure out how to set up remote management of the SE567. Anyone know if that's possible?

Okay I just tracked down a phone number for Siemens...Looks like a giant mess....Here's short and long of the story,

All the firmware for Telus was done in house in by Telus...Siemens is not supporting the firmware at all as they had no involvement in that... They will only support hardware issues that are brought to there attention by Telus... The agent also told me that Siemens has been receiving a decent number of calls from Telus and Bell customers wanting help with firmware........(If there saying a decent number of phone calls that's has to be some pretty good traffic as there call center in Canada is fairly large and is 24/7 operations)

From what the very nice agent told me they have put a number of phone calls into Telus to try and get this all resolved but they are not returning there phone calls...

I'm not going to give out the phone number I used as it is internal for something I'm involved with for work but the agent was able to find out the information for me and pass me over to the right department....

Looks like the same type of crap as with the 2wires....and 2wire has now removed any phone numbers for technical support from there website....LOL

Here we go again...Telus puts out good hardware and then butchers the firmware and than burns the bridges with the company by giving out incorrect info to the clients...

The only good news here is Bell is pulling the.... crap.......on Siemens... ......

For those of you who want to try and apply some pressure the best way of doing is going to be to apply it to Telus...Ask for supervisors if the agents give you contact information for Siemens...I would not recommend calling Siemens as I don't think the results will be something we the consumer will be happy with.....

It's quite obvious there getting annoyed with both Telus and Bell for passing customers over the them...

LOL ... I called Telus a third time, and they gave me the toll-free number for Siemens. The fellow there said he just got off the phone with somebody else about the issue (must have been you!)

I'm calling Telus a fourth time, and they still want to pass me through to their "Siemens department" which isn't open on weekends or evenings. I pressed them on whether that department was internal to Telus or not. The answer was very vague.

The agent also said that maybe I need to get a 2Wire modem. I'm not happy about this given the comments I've seen on this site ... and now I'm really kicking myself for not keeping my Dlink modem which was working fine with my Linksys router.

I suspect that one reason why Telus may be butchering the firmware is because port forwarding is something that is used with static ip addresses. Going with a static ip address from Telus costs double the price of a dynamic ip address. Using dynu.com I can get what works as a static ip without paying the extra cost to Telus. Just a thought.

LOL it very well might have been me. I was talking to the AD&D department after I was transferred from the other department within Siemens...

I'm not sure what to say anymore except I am very glad that I buy my own modems and only use the Telus provided hardware in case I have a failure of my own hardware...

...Just keep bugging Telus and maybe tomorrow you will get lucky and they will be able to transfer you to there "Siemens" department"

Please keep posting updates and let us all know what happens....

Trust me, there is nothing that Front Line staff at TELUS can do about. There is nothing that the front line Managers can do about it either. Sadly, even getting this issue escalated will do nothing. I ummm know someone who works there. The decision to put these 'bastardised' firmware versions on these modems are made at a level much higher than what the front end Analyst have access to communicate with.

Calling into the queues will only waste your time and theirs. Nothing can get done about it no matter how much complaining to the Helpdesk you do. Siemens isn't going to take responsibility for it because its not their firmware and TELUS is only going to blame it on them because they don't support it. I have grown tired of this circle, knowing that nothing can be done about it.

The 2Wire allows this feature and it seems to work fine so that's what I am using now. If my Siemens was even working for me and I wanted to use it, I would set it to DMZ Mode to use it as a passive modem and connect a REAL router with features that are fully functional and supported by their respective vendors.

Well, is it just my Siemens se567 that can port forward or what? Not that I need to anyway.

Under Advanced Settings>Internet>Firewall>Rules>Add New IP Filter Rule...You can set up Custom Filter Configurations for inbound and outbound IP addresses...

I'm assuming this is what you mean by port forwarding?

It's a manual process as you have to select the protocol you want to configure from the Select protocol drop down menu. This can be TCP, UDP, ICMP, or GRE. If you select TCP or UDP you must also specify either a single port or range of ports that apply.

Hope this helps
