[Kerio 4.x] News reader issues

Hope someone can help with this very confusing issue. When I installed a couple of news readers and tried to connect to various servers I was surprised that the firewall did not ask if the apps ought to be allowed access. After setting all my rules to alert, I discovered that the apps were being allowed out under the rule for AOL Active Virus Shield! This behaviour was the same when I tried to use Outlook as a newsreader, each time it was identified as AOL Active Virus Shield. Does anyone have any ideas as to what might explain this behaviour? Confusing, as the virus checker in question does not have any kind of webproxy. Thanks for any help.
