I thought it was a charge to help support the survivors of Charlie, so that they could call him every now and then as he rode on the MTA.

Gotta love the gaul of those carriers!

regulatory cost recovery charge .086

They added this charge at the exact amount after the government dropped a surcharge for network infrastructure cost, "Federal Universal Service Fund".

So now they get to keep that money!

all the surcharges combined are still cheaper than that damn $6.95/$8.95 system access fee (ie carrier profit) thats added on to almost every plan on the big 3 in canada.

Just compare that to any other carrier, and you'll see that your bill has the lowest 'overhead' of any of the major carriers ... There are good reasons for that - believe me when I tell you that your carrier works very hard to make sure that you don't pay any more of those than you have to.

Exactly why this post needs to be in a wireless forum as the charges are not iPhone specific.

I dont know why you are surprised, you were told about all your charges, including prorated charges, regulatory fees and taxes and one time charges on a service summary at time of purchase. by the way regulatory fees vary from state to state and some are a % of your bill.

Why do you have a $30 charge for "long distance access"..what the hell is that? Your plan includes long distance.
