Why Verizon email is a PIA to use

If Verizon email took some pointers from gmail, it wouldn't be so bad. First of all, they DO, albiet on rare occasions, send legitimate email to the spam folder. That is why one has to choose the option to send spam to the spam folder rather than deleting it automatically. It has to be checked occasionally before it is deleted. Secondly, more spam leaks into the inbox. In order to inform Verizon that spam got through, one has to manually forward it as an attachment to spamdetector.notcaught@verizon.net. Then one must manually delete it from the inbox and delete the forwarded message from the sent mail folder.
With gmail, one just clicks on the box next to the errant spam and hits the "Report Spam" button. It's reported and it goes to the spam folder. In gmail, a one button click and a confirmation click is all that is required to delete all the spam from the spam folder.
If legitimate email winds up in the spam folder in gmail (it happened to me once in a year), one click sends it to the inbox and the problem is fixed at gmail's end. If legitimate email goes to the spam filter in Verizon (happened to me several times in a year), one has to send a copy as an attachment to spamdetector.update@verizon.net.
There is a lot of wisdom in the advice not to use your ISP as your email domain, so that when you change ISPs, you don't have to change your email address. If you have Verizon, that advice is even more important.
