Which is where, in many areas, Comcast loses at. Most people would rather buy a lower DSL tier and pay lower prices than pay $50/month for a premium connection.

Really? Funny, because Comcast is the largest ISP for broadband service. The only larger provider is AOL's dialup. Thats strange you say they want slower DSL...
There is no defined winner. As has been reported DSL has been gaining ground and the lower price point seems to be the reason.
What would be interesting is, given people who have the option between the two, how many people grab which service.
Losing out may not be the best word choice, maybe starting to lose ground.
