Why would anybody wait until a market competitor is a dominant force to crush it?

Drop prices now, and the Xbox 360 has two distinct advantages over the PS3:
•Retail availability (walk in, grab, walk out... no Wal-Mart stampedes involved)
•Price (cheap vs. expensive, money talks)

I'm indifferent, since I choose to pursue neither, but consumerism isn't something that alien to me.
