decx : IMO 2GB would be plenty of RAM for the majority of people using Vista initially. What's really going to use up RAM would be third party applications and not the OS itself. So probably as time goes on more RAM will be necessary, but in early on 4GB will probably be a bit overkill. Plus remember that early revisions of the Athlon64 don't handle 4GB of RAM all that gracefully, and will actually result in a decrease in performance rather than increase it.

signmeuptoo : Well, what with Vista on the horizon and the fact that it likes memory more than XP, and that I use Linux which will always make full use of whatever RAM I give it, I am just wondering, since the new mo'board chipsets are going to be supporting 8 gigs of RAM, will RAM makers be putting out 2 gig RAM sticks soon?

I imagine 4 gig of RAM might be adequate for Vista, but what if it can use more with certain apps?
--
Let's be nice to each other, k?
