urbanguy : Thanks, I take your point on the legality thing. So the issue wrt traffic shaping would be bandwidth or usage? Note that I'm using 128kbps streams, barely a blip on the bandwidth scale. And I'm downloading only 8GB - 12GB per month, which is pretty low usage. So if I'm being throttled, I'll be pretty ticked! Especially since I'm a Rogers VIP! ::uhh:

urbanguy : As of yesterday, listening to Shoutcast broadcasts via Winamp only works for about a minute and then dies. Tried listening as well via Windows Media Player and got the same result. Since listening to a Shoutcast broadcast is basically just receiving streaming mp3 files, is it possible that this type of traffic is being throttled? I haven't called Rogers yet. Note that I probably have a Shoutcast station tuned in for 7 or 8 hours a day (often leave it on all night just to have some classical music playing).

This is happening with any Shoutcast station and any other streaming radio station using mp3s I've tried.

[FWIW, also note that this activity is perfectly legal - it's internet radio.]
