staticwinter : Thanks for the input. Most of the phones I was looking at have an mp3 player and bluetooth capability, but im still confused as to what exactly bluetooth is. How would I go about sending something from my computer to my phone via bluetooth?

BlitzenZeus : Certain carriers remove certain abilities in phone, but I will give you my example, which should be similar to Cingular.

I have a Motorola v330 with T-Mobile which allows me to use a data cable, or even bluetooth, as I already have bluetooth on my computer I didn't need any extra hardware.

I basically had to use a program to get mp3's, I used cdex to rip my cds previously so I used the same program to convert a few songs into wav format, and use the very basic built in sound recorder to edit the files, I would keep a small section of the file to use as a ringtone, have the new wav I made converted back to mp3, and upload it through bluetooth to my phone. You can also buy the data cable, and software, however I didn't have to buy a special cable or the Motorola software at all to upload through bluetooth.

Your only real limit is memory, the v330 has a limit of 5mb shared so it might hold one full mp3.

I suggest you look for phones which expandable/removable memory cards for more storage, but make sure you can still do what you want, along with most phones might only support cards up to a certain size, so it wouldn't help buying a 1gb card.
--
My hourly rates:
$25 per hour.
$35 per hour if you want to watch.
$45 per hour if you want to help.
$75 per hour if you tried to fix it, and failed.
The biggest error is sitting in front of your keyboard.

MP3 ringtones

staticwinter : Hey, I'm looking to get a new phone when my plan is up in november, and was wondering about mp3 ringtones. I know a lot of phones come with USB cables now, and have mp3 players in them, so I was wondering, is it possible on phones with mp3 players to transfer mp3's from my computer onto my phone, and use them as ringtones? And if so, what phones should I look into? I'm most likely switching to Cingular. Thanks.
