AFAIK, the AT&T core routers were not a part of the AT&T Broadband Internet infrastructure, and remain under AT&T control.

To continue to speculate, though, maybe a regulatory restriction will be placed on the SBC buyout; the AT&T core routers would add to SBC's significant place as a backbone provider. This should be a "good thing" for Comcast, as it would give them their own backbone, as well as giving their engineers the ability to tweak the routers for improved performance.

OTOH, if they stay with SBC, then any performance improvements would be on the SBC network engineers. Perhaps tweaking their performance would have a lower priority; as long as the packets actually reach their destination, why expend effort to reduce lag for a competitor?
--
Norman
~Oh Lord, why have you come
~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum

anon : haha most of u people have what max of 3-4 weeks with these unbearable speeds from comcast?....listen to this 4 fuckin months wow i call comcast have 4 techs within 3 weeks and 1 of them says i can't find anything i'll give u another modem...doesnt solve the problem, the second one says i can't find anything wrong you want a modem change and i told them to give me their motorola sb5120 and still nothing 3rd tech tells me that it has something to do with my apt cable lines...and im liek fuck it let them say what they want to but i ask him tho how is it possible that when i call comcast customer support they tell me that they see the ping times on my modem and have proof yet when techs come they say they cannot go any further or else they will have to do a surcharge of 49.99 because they have no proof and tell me that comcast techs and comcast customer service are two different parts of the company...only word that comes to mind is WOW. so i was thinking recently how could i have such a retard to listen to that bullshit if a cable line was bad in the apt why do i get great ping in the morning while im in class so i call them back for a escalate in my problem from a regular tech to a line tech who tests the line instead of my equipment. now some lady from comcast calls me while im in class and leaves a voicemail saying they didnt send a line tech because it is a problem that has to do with where i live and the cable lines in my apt. btw i live on 4th and william area code 95112.

Up until 2am (then I gotta get to bed) Never had this problem before. I've tried resetting the router and modem via power cycling but after I connect it still doesn't work as fast. In the morning when I wake up around 9am... I just need to power cycle it again it works normally and very fast. Any problem/upgrade happening around the evergreen/silver creek area? thanks
