For all intents and purposes the v4 and v5 hardware is nearly identical. They use the same Broadcom chips but some of the traces on the PCB seem to be a little different. What it does sound like is that Linksys has gone from a Linux based firmware that they used on v1-v4 to a VxWorks based one for this new v5.
