Your source of info is incorrect. There is no $50 disconnection fee when you sign with vonage.
You can also check out primus and acanac and let us know your choice.

Broadvox Direct runs $71 or so (US$) and VOIP.net is $66.85 (again, US$). Both of those companies have US and Canadian numbers and I believe both ship to Canada and will accept a Canadian credit card - Broadvox Direct definitely will.
